As a central valley portrait photographer, I always want to have sessions in local places to showcase the beauty that surrounds us. I truly believe there is beauty in every corner!
So when I got in touch with F & M about wanting a couple's session to celebrate their first wedding anniversary, I knew I had to try out the landscapes of Vista Ranch.
About Vista Ranch Winery
If you’re not familiar with Vista Ranch, it’s an intimate and cute winery located just outside of Merced, California. The staff was super welcoming and made the photo permit process super easy to navigate.
You can reach out to them via email to ask any questions about having your photos taken there or to even host your intimate wedding!
On the morning of this couple’s session, we were told we had the opportunity take photos around the vineyard area and the main spot where Vista Ranch hosts weddings throughout the year. But always ask before hand in case there are any closures due to farming, repairs, or other events.
On the day of their session, F + M dressed up to the 10s.
They showed up in dressy attire which they put together on their own with the help of the styling guide I sent them during our initial conversations. We had also talked about couples poses they could do in each of the different areas of the winery— They were open to try anything!
I immediately knew I was happy to be their portrait photographer. There was no doubt that their anniversary photos would be dashing.
Before we jumped into the photoshoot, we got to chat for a bit while I set up my camera settings and took test shots and they shared a bit of their love story.
They mentioned that they had met while attending similar PhD programs at UC Merced. Then, later they got engaged and chose to have a small courthouse wedding in the midst of the 2020 shutdowns.
As the ceremony was online and there were event restrictions in place at the time, they weren’t able to host family and friends nor have the opportunity to get bridal photos taken!
So with their one-year anniversary of marriage approaching, they felt this session couldn’t have happened at a better time.
I’m grateful to have spent the morning with F & M and I wish them a happy anniversary and another year full of love!
