inclusivity & diversity matters
As an elopement, couple, and portrait photographer based in California, my core belief is that everyone deserves to have their life documented and celebrated. Everyone deserves amazing photos.
That’s why I’m committed to creating a safe space for all the beautiful people I get to work with, the places we visit, and things you share with me.
YOU and your story are welcome here.
Values That Guide My Work
I believe love and life look different for everyone, and every person deserves to be treated with care and respect. This is an inclusive and affirming space for LGBTQ+ people, people of color, and people of all genders, sexual orientations, body types, abilities, cultures, and family structures.
My goal is to create an experience where each person feels safe, supported, and respected for who they are. That means listening without assumptions, using inclusive and affirming language, and honoring individual identities, boundaries, and needs throughout the planning and photography process.
I welcome feedback and am committed to doing the work to be more inclusive. I approach my work with humility and openness, knowing I will always be learning from the people I work with.
My Approach to Photos
I approach photography with care for the people in front of the camera. The photos are meant to reflect who you are, first and foremost, as individuals, and also the way you show up together as a couple or family.
Even though I’m here to guide you with posing when it’s needed, I’ll always strive to make space for you to move, hold, interact, and express yourselves in ways that feel natural to you. There’s no pressure to perform or fit into a specific role.
I’m mindful of bodies, comfort levels, and boundaries, and I check in often throughout your session or your day. My goal is for you to feel respected and present, so the photos reflect something real rather than forced.
A Commitment to Respect
I believe respect goes both ways. At Sara Soto Photography, hate or disrespect is never tolerated, from anyone, at any time.
I hold myself and my business to the same standard I ask of those I work with, and if respect isn’t upheld, I may need to pause or step back.
I also care deeply about the outdoor spaces we explore.
As a Leave No Trace–educated photographer, I invite everyone I work with to honor the environment, follow guidelines, and leave each place as beautiful as we found it.
By approaching each other and the world around us with kindness, compassion, and care, we create a safer, more grounded, and more joyful experience for everyone involved.
