Inspiration Engagement Photos Above Yosemite Valley, Taken Just Before Sunrise
I met with G + D in the wee morning hours at Glacier Point, while the sky over Yosemite Valley was still holding on to its dreamy blue hour light. The sun was just about to peek out from the side of Half Dome, and if I’m being real, it’s a fact that sunrises here never disappoint!
These two had flown all the way from the East Coast for a California road trip, with Yosemite as just one sweet stop on a jam-packed itinerary.
So this sunrise session was extra special.
It was really the only window that worked for them, and they showed up ready to go despite the early hour!
And to make it even more special, it happened to be Memorial Day weekend too! If you know, this holiday marks the unofficial start of summer, so it's already one of the busiest times of year in Yosemite.
But this year was even busier, since it was only the second weekend Glacier Point Road had reopened after the winter closure.
That's exactly why getting there before sunrise mattered so much to us. It wasn't just about chasing the softest light (though that’s always a treat), it was the only way to have most of this place to ourselves.
And there really is something magical about shooting this early: there’s this crisp morning air that I can’t explain and, of course, I believe it’s one of the best ways to start the day!
